Sekou Oumar Doumbouya was born on December 23, 2000 in Guinea. This 206 cm tall boy is currently playing for French LNB Pro B Poitiers Basket 86.

Career

Born in Guinea but moved to France when he was a child.
He started playing soccer and didn’t play organized basketball till he was 12 years old (this reminds me on Toni Kukoc).
He spent the early stages of his youth career at CJF Les Aubrais and enrolled at the French National Institute of Sport, expertise, and performance (INSEP) in 2014. He left INSEP in 2016.
In August 2016, he signed with Poitiers Basket 86 of the LNB Pro B, the second-tier of French basketball. There he plays under Ruddy Nelhomme, who also serves as assistant coach for the French men’s national team. Only 15 years old at the start of the season, Doumbouya saw regular minutes in the 2016-17 season, averaging 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16,9 minutes per contest (31 games played). He played alongside veterans like 2001 Rutgers graduate Jeff Greer and Drake Reed, the 2007 OVC Player of the year. In late June 2017, he signed a three-year contract extension with Poitiers Basket 86.

International career
Doumbouya represented the French under-18 national team at the European Championships in Turkey 2016. Emerging as the team’s leading scorer (17.8ppg) and rebounder (7.0rpg), he was instrumental in leading France to the gold medal, while earning All-Star Five honors.
